Limerick International College Visits Chenjiagou for Trade Union Activity

On March 15, the direct trade union group of Limerick International College organized all faculty members and foreign teachers to visit Chenjiagou, Wen County, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province—the birthplace of Chinese Tai Chi—for a trade union activity themed“Experiencing Traditional Culture, Strengthening Cultural Confidence.”The event aimed to enhance faculty members’recognition and pride in China’s outstanding traditional culture by immersing them in Tai Chi culture, while also showcasing the unique charm of Chinese culture to international friends.

During the activity, all faculty members and foreign teachers visited the Tai Chi Museum, where detailed exhibits and explanations allowed them to explore the historical development, cultural significance, and global influence of Tai Chi. Through the engaging narration of the tour guide, everyone gained a deeper understanding of Tai Chi as not only a treasure of Chinese martial arts but also an important embodiment of the philosophical concepts of“harmonious coexistence”and“the balance of strength and softness”in Chinese culture. Later, under the careful guidance of a Tai Chi master, all participants, including foreign teachers, enthusiastically joined in learning the basic movements of Tai Chi, personally experiencing the unique charm of this ancient art.

The event specifically invited foreign teachers from the college to participate, and they showed great interest in Tai Chi, actively engaging in the experience. Sean McGrath, the foreign dean ofLimerick International Collegeatthe Henan Polytechnic University, remarked,“Tai Chi has given me a profound sense of the depth and wisdom of Chinese culture. It is not just a form of exercise but a philosophy of life. This activity has deepened my understanding and respect for Chinese culture.”

This trade union activity not only enriched the cultural lives of the faculty but also provided a platform for a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, further strengthening cultural identity and confidence. At the same time, through firsthand experience, all faculty members and foreign teachers gained a profound appreciation for the unique charm of China’s outstanding traditional culture, reinforcing their confidence in and passion for Chinese culture.
