To mark the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army’s Long March, the College Trade Union organized all faculty and staff to attend a themed movie screening at Dennis Cinema on the afternoon of July 8. The group watched the revolutionary historical feature filmThe Four Crossings. Through the medium of film, participants revisited the extraordinary years of hardship, carried forward the lofty aspirations of revolutionary martyrs, strengthened their original aspiration of fostering talents, and pooled concerted strength to forge ahead.
Centered on the Four Crossings of the Chishui River, a classic military maneuver in history, the film vividly recounts the strategic shift of 30,000 Red Army soldiers who flexibly maneuvered and staged desperate counterattacks while encircled and pursued by 400,000 enemy troops. Shot on real locations and paired with delicate characterization, the movie faithfully recreates that glorious yet arduous chapter filled with raging flames and stirring heroism. During the screening, all faculty and staff watched intently, absorbed by the twisting plot, and profoundly moved by the fearless spirit and iron will demonstrated by revolutionary forebears amid desperate straits.
After the screening, faculty and staff shared enthusiastic feedback and said they were deeply touched. They unanimously agreed that the unwavering faith and indomitable fighting spirit of Red Army officers and soldiers amid extreme adversity, together with the superb military wisdom of revolutionaries including Comrade Mao Zedong, delivered a vivid, immersive Party history lesson and a soul-stirring spiritual baptism.
This movie screening activity not only enriched the faculty’s cultural and spiritual life, but also subtly boosted team cohesion and solidarity. It inspires all staff to devote themselves to education with a more vigorous bearing, carry forward the Long March spirit and forge ahead on the new journey of the new era.
