On the afternoon of September 23, a symposium between the leaders of the two universities and the faculty and students of the Limerick International College was held in Conference Room 207 on the second floor of the Limerick International College. Shane Kilcommins, President of the University of Limerick, Zhang Hebing, Vice President of Henan Polytechnic University, members of the University of Limerick delegation, and representatives of Chinese and foreign faculty and students of the Limerick International College gathered together to engage in in-depth exchanges on topics such as deepening cooperation between the two universities and enhancing the level of international education. The symposium was chaired by Zhang Changsen, Party Secretary and Dean of the Limerick International College.
At the symposium, Shane Kilcommins, President of the University of Limerick, delivered a speech. He expressed his gratitude to Henan Polytechnic University for its warm reception, reviewed the history of cooperative education between the two universities, and highly affirmed the achievements and significance of the cooperative education between the two institutions. He stated that the University of Limerick attaches great importance to its partnership with Henan Polytechnic University and hopes to take this symposium as an opportunity to further expand practical cooperation between the two sides in areas such as talent cultivation and academic exchange. Subsequently, Colin Fitzpatrick, Vice President of the University of Limerick, put forward suggestions on deepening curriculum co-construction, resource support, and faculty dispatch. John McGrath, Associate Vice President, reviewed the outstanding achievements made by the college over the past three years in terms of steady expansion of enrollment scale, continuous improvement of teaching quality, and ongoing expansion of international cooperation. Darrell Healy, a faculty representative from the University of Limerick, combined his frontline teaching experience to share his teaching insights and reflections in Sino-foreign cooperative education.
Student representative Wang Mengyuan, in her speech, shared her study and life experience at the Limerick International College, expressed her recognition of the joint training model of the two universities, and put forward her own ideas on curriculum design and cultural exchange.
In his summary, Zhang Changsen stated that this symposium further enhanced mutual understanding between the two universities and built consensus for continuously improving the quality of cooperative education. After the symposium, all participants took a group photo together.
The holding of this symposium is an important measure for Henan Polytechnic University and the University of Limerick to deepen international educational cooperation, and is of great significance for promoting the high-quality development of the Limerick International College and cultivating high-quality talents with an international perspective.
