To further strengthen the development of college student organizations, open up channels for young students to participate in democratic affairs, and improve the operation mechanism of the Student Union, the First Student Congress of Limerick International College was held in Meeting Room 207 of the college on May 10. Teachers in charge of the College Communist Youth League, counselors, members of the Student Union and student representatives from all classes attended the conference together.
The congress opened with the solemn playing of the National Anthem. In accordance with the meeting agenda, participants listened to and reviewed the Work Report of the First Student Union of Limerick International College, Henan Polytechnic University and the Constitution of the Second Student Union of Limerick International College, Henan Polytechnic University. The conference comprehensively reviewed the achievements of the Student Union in fostering academic atmosphere, enriching campus culture, safeguarding students’ rights and interests, and organizing volunteer services over the past period, objectively summarized relevant experience and shortcomings, and laid out clear plans for the Student Union’s future work objectives, organizational structure and service functions. Afterwards, adhering to the principles of fairness, impartiality and openness, the congress elected student representatives to the university-level Student Congress.
Subsequently, the teacher in charge of the Communist Youth League affirmed the fruitful work of student organizations since their establishment and put forward three expectations for all attendees. First, firm ideals and convictions should be upheld to consolidate the foundation of faith, integrating personal growth into the overall progress of the university and college development. Second, students shall consolidate their academic foundation and hone solid capabilities to build up strength for future career success. Third, they must dare to take on responsibilities, actively engage in campus services and social practices, and compose brilliant youthful chapters through persistent striving.
The congress concluded with the resonant singing of the Communist Youth League Song. The convening of this Student Congress marks a vital measure for the college to standardize, democratize and regularize student work. It not only unifies the ideological consensus of young students, but also charts a clear path for the high-quality development of college student organizations. Moving forward, the college will continue to improve mechanisms for student participation and diversify educational platforms, guiding all young students to devote themselves to their studies and campus construction with a more vigorous spirit and pragmatic work style, and contribute youthful strength to the advancement of all undertakings of the college.
